It’s an old saying, but one we rather like at The Great Western.
Great things rarely arrive fully formed. They start with an idea, a vision, a first step. Then with care, commitment and a little patience, they grow.
Our new herb planters are exactly that. Another small but meaningful step towards sourcing more locally, reducing waste and creating something sustainable for the future. Before long, the mint in your mojito, the rosemary on your roast potatoes and the herbs finding their way into our kitchens and cocktails will be grown right here at the pub.
We’re especially proud that the planters themselves have been created from repurposed items, giving materials a second life rather than sending them to waste.
These herbs will flourish, the displays will grow, and we hope they’ll become part of the view and part of the story of The Great Western.
Which brings us to a question...
As the planting grows, what should we do with the backdrop behind it?
