As this new year fast approaches, taking time to reflect feels only natural.
Our community meeting back in April feels like a lifetime ago now — an evening filled with hope, possibility, and the belief that something magical could rise from the ashes. It’s truly hard to comprehend that what feels like a journey of a lifetime began just over eight months ago.
Looking back has been both a joy and a startling realisation of just how much has been achieved. A building brought back to life. A community brought together by a shared belief. Jobs created, friendships formed — where for twelve years there had been nothing.
If there is one word that rises above all others as we reflect, it is pride.
Thank you for joining us on this journey. Thank you for being part of a moment in local history. Perhaps, in another 130 years, just as we once poured over archive materials, people will look back on these memories and think what a special place that must have been.
Enjoy your celebrations today and tonight. To those joining us for lunch or drinks, and to those joining us for a very special meal this evening, we wish you a truly joyous New Year.
