What. A. Weekend.
We delivered celebrations. We delivered birthday parties. We welcomed our wonderful Great Wanderers walking group. We welcomed Typing for Strangers, creating beautiful, personal poems for so many of you to treasure. We hosted an incredible display of more than 70 vintage Lambrettas and Vespas. We delivered live music from The Folly Bros on our lawns, filling the evening with dancing, laughter and unforgettable moments. We fired up the barbecue, served fresh wood-fired pizzas, coffees and cakes, snacks, our full menu and countless Sunday roasts. We sang Happy Birthday more times than we could count and, above all, we provided a safe, welcoming, multi-generational space where everyone could relax, laugh, celebrate and simply enjoy being together.
We could not be prouder of our incredible team, who smiled, cared and delivered the award-winning hospitality we strive for from first service to last orders.
Thank you to every single one of you for arriving with such wonderful energy, kindness and good humour. Thank you for sharing tables, offering a spare seat to strangers who quickly became friends, and making room so everyone could feel part of the day. To those of you who brought camping chairs and blankets and truly made yourselves at home on the lawns—what a wonderful sight that was. It perfectly captured everything we hope The Great Western can be: relaxed, welcoming and full of community spirit.
Some of you came in cowboy boots and hats, ready to dance the evening away. Some of you dusted off your Mod memories as the Lambrettas and Vespas rolled in. Others simply came to spend time with family, make new friends or create another happy memory in our little corner of Warwickshire.
As we enter our 11th month of trading and begin looking towards our first birthday, we are continually amazed by what this historic building has become. Every beam, every brick and every chapter of its regeneration has been restored with love, care and unwavering dedication. The greatest reward of all is seeing that reflected in your smiles and hearing your wonderful feedback after every visit.
Together, we’ve created something rather special. Thank you for believing in what we’re building. Thank you for making this far more than just a pub. Thank you for becoming part of its story.
And finally… yes, there was a brief shortage of ice! On one of our busiest weekends of the year, with events running from morning until night and exceedingly challenging temperatures, our hardworking ice machine simply couldn’t quite keep pace. For that, we can only apologise… and confirm that Ice Queen No. 2 is already on her way! 🧊😉
