What a truly special evening here at The Great Western.
With enormous thanks to Hereburgh Morris and Coventry Morris for filling our little corner of the Warwickshire countryside with music, dancing, laughter, tradition and the most incredible spirit.
As the bells rang out, sticks clashed, handkerchiefs flew and folk music echoed across the lawns, there was a real feeling of something timeless taking place. The kind of evening that reminds us all just how important pubs, community and traditions are to British culture.
It was especially wonderful to welcome the sides back to The Great Western after such a long time away. Hearing stories of Morris dancing traditions stretching back decades, of practice nights in Harbury village halls, of generations keeping the dances alive and younger members now stepping forward to carry the torch into the future — it all felt incredibly meaningful.
There is something magical about seeing centuries-old traditions celebrated outside a proper country pub beside the railway line on a spring evening. Exactly as it should be.
To everybody who danced, played, sang, supported, watched, applauded and joined us — thank you. You created a truly memorable atmosphere and reminded us all that heritage only survives when people continue to gather, participate and pass it on.
Long may the bells ring, the music play and the traditions continue.
