Mondays at the GW ….. We’re changing things up a little, September is here, the cosier months are beginning, and after the most incredible summer — and our amazing first year — we’re giving our brilliant kitchen and front-of-house teams a very well-earned day off on Mondays.
But we are still OPEN.
As ever, The Great Western remains open seven days a week from 11am, and on Mondays you’ll be greeted by the familiar faces of Shane, Dillyn & Siobhan behind the bar.
Our kitchen will be closed on Mondays, but everything else that makes The Great Western such a wonderful social space will be very much alive and kicking.

MONDAYS ARE FOR OUR COMMUNITY
When we first opened the doors of The Great Western, we made you a promise: that this pub would be about far more than simply food and drink.
We wanted to give something back to the community around us.
And now, exactly one year on, this feels like the perfect time to do just that.
On Mondays, we want to hand over our spaces to you. If you run a community group, social group, club, network or organisation — or simply have a collection of people who need somewhere welcoming to meet, talk, connect, socialise and network — we would love The Great Western to become your space too.
Daytime or evening, our doors are open.
We simply ask that you get in touch in advance so we can make sure we have enough space for everyone to enjoy, connect and network comfortably. Please contact Siobhan directly at siobhan@thegreatwestern.pub to arrange your group or gathering.

And then, when evening arrives…
🎻🪕🎸 MONDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT! 🎶
Starting Monday 7th September, we’re opening up the bar for a good old-fashioned pub céilí.
Bring your guitar. Bring your ukulele. Bring your violin. Bring your accordion. Bring your tin whistle. Bring whatever you play. And if your voice is your instrument, bring that too.
Think less formal performance and more musicians gathered around the pub, tunes being picked up, songs being shared, people joining in and a proper warm, spontaneous evening of music, conversation and good company.
