Stout was born in 18th-century London, evolving from porter — originally known as “stout porter,” the stronger, bolder version of the dark brew Londoners already loved.
Then along came Guinness, established in Dublin in 1759 — who perfected it, branded it brilliantly and sent it marching confidently around the world.
So technically…
England created the style first.
England brewed it first.
Which means… technically…WE WIN. 😉
